The Secret Speech

This book is the follow-up to Child 44 – and there’s apparently at least another one to come yet, which I am very happy about as I actually enjoyed this even more than I enjoyed Child 44 – which was a lot!

Child 44 was far more character-building and emotive, but The Secret Speech delivered exactly what I wanted from a book when I picked it up.

I wanted action and adventure, and it completely lived up to my expectations.  This would make a fantastic film, probably starring Matt Damon (whose name I can’t say without doing an imitation of Team America).

It was easy to read, held all sorts of twists and turns, some obvious and then surprisingly not-so-obvious.  It was really fast-paced and there wasn’t a moment to be bored.

If you want depth or mental challenge, then you wont be picking this up – but if you want to be entertained, kept guessing and a bit of action  then this is absolutely perfect (especially if you’ve already read Child 44!)
